The "Quantum Computational Science and Engineering" hackathon took place for the first time as part of the MSS profile area and JARA CSD. PhD students were given the opportunity to use the Quantum Annealer JUPSI at the FZJ as part of small projects. The results are very promising.

Congratulations to Giuliano Santarpia for the successful defense of his dissertation on "RepOdor: a Manually-Curated, Comprehensive Repository of Odorants and their Olfactory Receptors".

HDS-LEE was positively evaluated on February 14-15, 2023 by a evaluation committee of six renowned scientists from the field of data science. At the Helmholtz General Assembly, it was decided to continue the funding of the graduate school together with the other five Helmholtz Data Science Schools.

Congratulations to Daniel Wolff for the successful defense of his dissertation on "Learning-Based Approaches for the Analysis and Optimization of Profile Extrusion Dies and Bioreactors".

The doctoral researchers had three days of intensive exchange on their projects and on Data Science applications and methods. In the morning there were lectures and in the afternoon team building activities and a hike organized by the doctoral researchers.
